As I understand, insult or not, the initial request was for you to back up your statements with sources that are not only reliable, but are from prominent scholars like Dr. Joseph, who's book was published by renowned publishing houses, after going through the diligent task of being reviewed by a board of expert historians. Comparing someone of Dr. Joseph's stature to that of a passionate, nationalist activist with little or no training in Joseph's specific field of History of Modern Middle East is similar to taking a surgeon who's studied under the instructions of other experts in the field for over a decade, and applied his/her training for another few decades and comparing him/her to one of my flowery, hippie friends who thinks positive thoughts and magical thinking can cure a cancerous tumor better than a trained surgeon can. The other factor which is a bit hypocritical is that we who live in the U.S. and Australia live on lands stolen from the indigenous native American Indians and Aboriginal peoples, and yet we have the chutzpah to complain about someone occupying our lands. If we are against one type of occupation and usurpation of land, then we should be against all, and our first act should be to give up our homes, our belongings, and everything which we gained from living on occupied lands back to the their rightful owners, in my case, the American Indians. --------------------- |
