I just want to add that Saddam did have legitimate concerns regarding Khomeini's Shiite revolution destabilising Iraq via the Iraqi Shiite and possibly felt a preventive war was necessary to nip the revolution in the bud while Iran was in a state of chaos and diplomatically isolated and sanctioned due to the U.S. embassy hostage situation. --------------------- |
