Part of voting Republican is also generational, just like some families who have a tradition of joining the armed forces each generation. The other factor about "no government" I think has to do with Protestantism and the idea of pioneering the status of the individual breaking from the Catholic Church - the government being the heirarchical church. But mostly it has to do with the "lottery effect", abortion, gay rights, etc.. There are Latinos in LA who are voting Republican because of the abortion issue and gay rights; even though by voting Republican they're pissing on their own two feet. --------------------- |
