My objection to places like Iran is that one form of oppression is exchanged for another. The intention behind the revolution in Iran was valid, but the outcome was a state-theocracy with new ways and shapes of control. The oppressed then are only given two choices in that situation: our way or their's(the west), leaving no other choice for means of newer possibilities divorced from the west and the religious-police-state. The people of Iran are fucked both ways: they tried the US plan for 30 years and they tried the Islamic one for 30 more: they're still oppressed as they've been for 60 years. --------------------- |
