No Muslim Assyrian would say that Ramadan is an "Assyrian" observance....but Christian Assyrians insist that Easter and Christmas are "Assyrian" celebrations. Assyrian Muslims accept their Assyrian heritage as an ASSYRIAN heritage and don't try to morph Islam into an "Assyrian" religion/culture/heritage....making Islamic culture an "Assyrian" culture. Assyrian culture is what WAS...Islamic culture is what IS. All these Christians have done is glue "Assyrian" over every Christian thing they do....the best example is also a practical demonstration because they, literally, glued "Assyrian" over "Nestorian" on their CHURCHES! Nestorious was a Christian....the belief system was a Christian one....no Jew would insist he was a BETTER Jew for adopting Christianity...or Islam. That would be the end of his Jewishness...as a CONSCIOUS thing...sure, he'd still be "genetially" Jewish, whatever that means...but he wouldn't dare call Christmas a JEWISH holiday...he'd know enough to know that he was now a practising Christian...or Buddhist and no linger Jewish. But...our sillies insist that they became REAL Assyrians when they STOPPED believing in the god of the Assyrians..that glorious God under whose influence they were actually Assyrian....do you think for a minute these Christians would allow you to reject Jesus and yell to the world that you are still a CHRISTIAN??? Hell, you even have to have the exact SAME definition of Jesus that they do or they'll kill you. Muslims wisely draw a line between their Assyrian heritage and their current religious beliefs and Islamic heritage....that was then...this is now. The Christians, on the famous other hand, smoosh everything together into one muddy soup, confusing what was Assyrian with what is Christian...and then "grandly" telling Muslims that they can too can "be Assyrian"...if they'll just accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. --------------------- |
