Religious people actually believe that the world is as it is now, in all its flaws and injustices, because God wants it to be that way. It makes them accept their life as it, and they will resort only to prayer and good conduct if they are unhappy with their status quo. They will not try to rebel. That is why it was called the opium of the people.

In a way, religion brings social stability.

I also think that atheism is a belief. There is no proof whatsoever that God does or doesn’t exist. So Atheists too act on faith.
