Yeah, I agree... I had the unfortunate experience of meeting a girl and spending the night at her house. The following morning, I met her mom who was so sweet and gentle. They escaped from El Salvador during the war and came to the states the same year I did. Anyway, while we were having breakfast and talking, the mother asked me what church I go to and I said I don't go to church. So she said "great! this Sunday I want you to come to my church". She continued to tell me with great exuberance about her pastor (an indication that she's an Evangelical -- which was new to me, cause I thought most Latinos are Roman Catholic). Anyway, she insisted that I join them and go up on the alter and have this magical pastor touch me and exorcise the devil out of me, at which time, I will fall backwards into the arms of my new family and start speaking in tongues. Well, I never made it to the church, but I did start speaking in tongues when I was alone with her daughter (and she was the one who fell backwards: ) --------------------- |
