-- Curtis LeMay was the high priest of the Pacific war and it may have been he who said that. He was also involved in the making of "the bomb". He distrusted Robert Oppenheimer because Oppenheimer was a leftist and a Jew. During 1968, General LeMay was also running as vice president for the American Independent Party's presidential hopeful and southern racist, George Wallace. He is comically caricatured in Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Stranglove as the insane General Jack D. Ripper. That particular Tokyo fire-bombing killed tens of thousands of civilians. It was so horrendous that when the Atom bomb dropped on Hiroshima, the Japanese thought it was just another fire-bombing run, like the one in Tokyo.
