...wether Obama got caught with his pants down or did the right, or better, thing just because it was right to do can't be known for sure...but it's wonderful that after the outcry over his choice of the anti-gay and bigoted Rev. Warren to speak at his inauguration he later chose an outright Gay bishop to lead things off on that day. In the first place no religious person is needed on that day...but if we have to have one, Warren was the wrong choice....but the good news is that the other religious figure, and I'm sorry I forget his name, made a point of saying that he will NOT invoke Jesus Christ on that day...because Jesus is only ONE manifestation of God...not the totality...and that he does not want to alienate the millions who do not worship Jesus. This is not only a courageous act and welcome relief but it shows that these born-agains were never about religion AS religion but as a disguise for a POLITICAL agenda that used Jesus as a ramrod and stick to beat people who not only refused Jesus or were indifferent but, more to the point, who disagreed with their POLITICAL agenda. Christianity is a political movement more than anything else. That was never the intention or doing of Jesus but the handiwork of the Roman political machine. --------------------- |
