"..it just isn't believable that Hitchens had a come-to-Jesus moment, late in life, and turned against all his older friends and beliefs....and that all this happened because he woke up one morning terrified at Jihadists and the chance of their getting a nuclear weapon.... makes him out to be an hysteric, climbing up on a chair and screaming because Muslims were circling him.

WAS it the whiskey? Was it the lucrative contracts, Vanity Fair magazine and all those Hollywood parties? Was he after all just someone pissed at being an outsider who therefor embraced what was inevitable and built his beliefs on that rejection, who later in life found that there was a way inside the mansion, if he conformed?

-- When one pulls a 'Hitchens' by doing a political U-turn, then some light must also be shed on whether he truly believed all the incredibly, lucid arguments with which in my estimation he had destroyed all of his fellow opponents on the question of the supernatural vs. materialism. Could Hitchens have also privately made a philosophical turnaround from materialism to spirituality? Especially when faced with a sudden and sadly immediate death sentence?
