p.s. -- I'm not attempting to paint Cuba as a citizen's paradise; I've never been there to gauge the public mood. I'm sure they have many problems, and quite a few unhappy citizens. But just as we have certain "unalienable rights" ("Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness") stated in our Declaration of Independence, the Cubans also have certain principles to which they adhere that defines them: these being universal health, free education, and so on. They see these as their (and as humanity's) "unalienable rights", and more importantly, they consider these principles as human rights. --------------------- |
