I've read this admission by more than a handful of former Israeli soldiers that what they did when in uniform in the occupied territories went against their "Jewish instinct", against their principles as Jews, contradicting their historical position against oppression. And.. I am so very thankful for the writers, thinkers, artists, and intellectuals that Jews have produced in the face of constant discrimination, demonization and death, while other ethnic groups from the region, who faced a less brutal history than the Jews, simply stagnated within a swamp of religion, hate and bitterness - and I'm not talking about Arabs. --------------------- |
