The reason I never finished my degree (which was initially film) was that, one, I didn't have the dough, two, I didn't want to borrow and owe money, three, I'm not into the Hollywood trip, and lastly, I found my "gems" at the community college level. Professors like the one I mentioned are hard to find, though. I think I not only took all of the classes he taught (History, Political Science, Political Theory, Humanities, etc.) but I kept going back to sit in on his lectures (for free). He's a great teacher and a man of balls!! In the early eighties, he gatherd a handful of students, professors and activists and they all went to Nicaragua to see firsthand what the Sandanista Revolution was all about. I spent the best time of my life on that campus. And, honeslty, the best teachers I ever had all happened to be secular, leftist Jews. So in some ways you can say I'm a Jew. --------------------- |
