Your comment reminds me of the screenwriter, John Milius, who adapted Joseph Condrad's novel, HEART OF DARKNESS, into the screenplay for the epic film, "Apocalypse Now". While attending USC in the '60s, he went against the grain of hippies who wore buttons displaying a peace sign with the words Nirvana Now, which Milius flipped upside down, making the peace sign into a B-52 and the words Apocalypse Now above it. He refers to himself as a "Zen Anarchist". A true maverick. But he got out of hand and became a Reagan/Bush supporter and made silly films that gave right wingers a hard-on, like "Red Dawn", about a high school football team who mobilize and defeat the invading Soviet Red Army. He also wrote the scripts for "Dirty Harry", which Pauline Kael called "a fascist masterpiece". Although I don't agree with his rightist views, I can understand why he went the opposite way. Another thing I forgot to add to my earlier reply is that since the Torture Report has been released, Abu Bakr-al Baghdadi made a statement that the contents of the report all well known to most Arabs and that Daesh's (ISIS) response and actions in Iraq have nothing to do with Islam and everything to do with the Bush/Blair invasion and occupation of Iraq, but I doubt that our MSM covered that story. Fortunately, there are intellectuals like Vijah Prashad who cut through the bullshit. If you have time, I recommend that you watch this lecture by Prof. Prashad in which he explores and explains the reasons behind the existential hell that the Iraqi and Syrian people are surviving through (if they are lucky).
