Hitchens support for the Qurdi struggle is quite a strange one. He portrays them as the "good Muslims" who are different from the rest of the followers of the prophet Muhammad. He goes out of his way to describe how egalitarian the Qurdish people are, unlike the Iraqi Arabs, I guess. But, where was Prince Hitch during the debate regarding Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) which was (and still may be) prevalent among certain Qurds, even though a law banning FGM was passed in April, 2013, two years after Hitch's death. As Tariq Ali pointed out, the worse kind of a conservative or Neocon are those individuals (such as C.H.) who switch sides, and to prove their loyalty to their new masters, they have to go beyond and outdo their new ideological sponsors. David Horowitz is another case: A red diaper baby due to both parents being members of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) and great admirers of Comrade Stalin, and himself, a street fighting man on the side of the New Left who left for London to work for the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation, where he became friends with Tariq Ali. Later, in California., while working on RAMPARTS (a great publication from the late '60s and early '70s) he recommended that the Panthers take in a young female acquaintance of his for bookkeeping, and the young girl was mysteriously murdered, allegedly by Black Panther members, according to Horowitz, which led him to break away from the Left and live a short reclusive life until he wrote a book attacking his former mates and comrades. I guess he needed money. And by 1980 he became a card carrying asshole Neocon using his Stalinist methods to destroy people with whom he shared a past common struggle. As far as I know, no one knows who killed the girl. It possibly may have been the Panthers. Perhaps, there was jealousy among the Black female members? .... maybe an affair with a taken Black man?... who knows. But there is another angle to the murder of that young girl: FBI's COINTELPRO. It's textbook counterinsurgency shit. False flag and all the rest. It's all been documented. Hitch knew Horowitz, I think. If not, he should have, since they both took the easy way out of the struggle. --------------------- |
