The difference is that Americans think their the "good guys" so they can do all the killing because they're way of life is better than the rest. The others are bad, evil etc, and must be defeated because they're"out to get us" and jealous of our "freedom". This thinking has to stop before anything can be done. They just don't see the others as human or equal to them.
