The Palestinians were not like the natives of north America, Australia, New Zealand... and so on. They were not bedouins and didn't live in tents. Palestine wasn't mostly uninhabited and its was a thriving economy. But in general, I do believe that the Jews should have a state of their own. The location of that state is disputable though. People of that intelligence deserve self determination especially after what they've been through. I concede that injustice has befallen on the Palestinians. The Europeans controlled the Middle East and they carved it the way they wanted. They created artificial states while they deliberately leaving the Palestinians without one. They wanted instead to disperse them in host countries, hoping that they'd assimilate and forget about Palestine. But plan didn't work out as they weren't really welcomed by neighboring countries. You seem to lump sum all Muslims as one. They're not. The people in the Middle East do not regard Islam as their prime identity. They are so divided and there's so much racism and antagonism among them. Your world view is that there is a struggle among religions, It's as if we are in the crusade era. There isn't a Christian war against Muslims. And Hitler didn't target the Jews because they didn't believe in Jesus. (p.s. Hitchens is in the business of selling words. Whichever viewpoint attracts the greatest audience, he is willing to support it). --------------------- |
