...admittedly I'm of two opinions. I want to be as positive as sanity will allow, but deep inside I see it the way you do.

Yes, Obama gave people "hope"...but based on what? We were so damn desperate, because of our own dismal performance in choosing Bush (or allowing him to steal an election), that we swung the other way and got giddy and foolish over Obama....it isn't that Obama gave us anything real to be so hopeful about...just that he allowed us to get off the petard we'd shafted ourselves with.

Had he immediately stopped the Iraq war, at the least...I would think he deserved this award...but, you're right. I should'nt, again, WANT to be hopeful so badly that I lose all judgment.
