"Consider a hypothetical population where everyone has equal qualifications, resources and opportunities. Despite this, a small minority will inevitably end up being richer than all the others." That's true, but that's not even the case here in the US. There is no level playing field where merit and hard work alone is enough for one to excel. The whole game is rigged. When a black kid who grows up under institutional racism and gets the worst education possible because his school is under-funded, overcrowded, violent, decrepit, and uses books from the 1970s, how can he compete with the white kid across the city who not only has all of the best resources available to him, but his parents know and are friendly with the school superintendent? Then you have people writing books about how whites have highter IQs than Blacks, and so on. --------------------- |
