Actually statues are not haraam in Islam and those "scholars" who argue otherwise use the hadeeth which states that God will tell the image maker to bring to life what his hands have made. If one reads the whole context, it applies to images which people worshipped and not of regular people. There are statues all over the Islamic world and Tunisia has a beatiful one of Ibn Khaldun. Muslim Spain was filled as well so was Ottoman empire. As for Iran, it is like paradise and my favorite Muslim state. Iran has great subway systems which puts to shame New York and Chicago. Beatiful skyscrapers and streets. What makes Iran unique and hated bu the west and gulf Arab states is that it is far ahead of them in technology and other things. Iran produces its own technology and scientists. A friend of mine has a device on his cell phone which makes it impossible to be tapped or spied on and it's made by Iranians. So yes Iran has fascinated me for a long time. --------------------- |
