...exactly....the designation "Assyrian" or "Babylonian" or "Turk" is cultural, not biological...especially not in an area of the world where populations constantly shifted and were added to. It might mean something, biologically, to be an Aborigine of Australia, maybe.....but Middle Easterner is just that: one of several cultures to be found in that region and not in DNA.

I'm still amazed that educated assyrians actually think any DNA study could trace them back to Ashurbanipal...at the most these studies can show that people came from that region...but lots of people came from the same region without being assyrian....and at that the study is only valid for a 500 year window...anything beyond that is closed to it....Americans might legitimately wonder where their ancestors came from...Ireland...Germany, Italy....but we know we come from the Middle East...so what's the big deal?

You can be born in Arizona without being Navajo...or China without being descended from Genghis Khan.
