Dear Nestrieno, I hope you don't mind me joining this conversation. First of, I would like to say that it's always good to be sincere and you come off that way. You rightly acknowledge that Assyrians also committed atrocities against Turks/Kurds and they did, but to say that Turks committed a genocide or killed Assyrian just because of their religion is false. This isn't about preserving language or culture. No Arab or anyone has ever stopped Assyrians from speaking their language. It's problems the nationalists come with which the Iraqis or any others will not tolerate. Telling someone that this is your country, they need to go back to Arabia, you stole our land, etc. They every right to be offended and this is where the problem comes. It isn't about being good citizens, preserving culture and language. If Assyrians cared so much about culture, they wouldn't be trading it in for western culture and do anything just to be accepted as white europeans and to never be mistaken or likened to Arabs.

It's the sedition that is not tolerated and that's dangerous. The churches don't just teach the language but teach nationalism, twisted history and, thus, cause problems for the Christians who would like to live in Iraq without problems. Culture isn't disappearing in the Middle East, it's disappearing in Sweden, Canada, USA and Australia.
