Beautifully done. I didn't want it to end because I enjoyed reading it. I have come to the conclusion that the nestorians and chaldeans are really just a micture of people and what kept these people together is religion and the syriac language. John Jospeh explained it beautifully when he said various people become "Arabs" because of language and religion, not necessarily being from Mecca, and the same applies to the syriac speaking Christians. Bet-shlimon stated on here that the nestorians were assyrians all along but didn't care about ethnicity and focused on christianity and later had to become nationalistic, but he is wrong when he says they knew all along. They didn't know and they became interested later because of the discoveries and what they could get from it. I don't know how they can argue that the nestorians resembled the ancient assyrians as seen by their monuments when no two nestorians look alike. We have seen the various colors, features and they don't look any different from the others who live around them. This was no doubt a fraud by the Europeans and they conveniently ignored everyone else living there. There are modern assyrians and chaldeans who were born in southern Iraq and they look no different from the Muslims from Basra. Then you have the ones from the north who look no different from the muslims they live with. I know the nationalists hate to hear it since this debunks their "pure race" bullshit but how can Aprim be so sure that there couldn't have been a drop of Persian, Kurdish, Arab, Greek or other sperm that could have gotten in the way? Did the conquerors not have any relations with the conquered? The ancient Assyrians did it, the Persians did it and everyone else did it. How then can Aprim and his boys be so sure they are pure and only descendants of Assyrians? They have only recently become this prejudice where they condemn marrying or mixing with others but that was not true of their Nestorian ancestors and definitely not true of the ancient Assyrians. Mesopotamia has always been a melting pot and they can't convince people that they are pure, and the fact they never linked themselves with the ancients prior to their encounter with Europeans only proves them to be a fraud even more. To say the ancient Assyrians completely vanished with their blood is just as silly as saying the Akkadians, Summerians and others vanished that way. They were assimilated and vanished as an identity but not necessarily by blood. The easiest way to define the Nestorians is they are a mixture of people who were unified by religion and language. Aramaic became the language of eastern christianity, the same way arabic became the language of many converts to islam, who became arabs by adopting the language as their everyday speech. So can little ashur absolutely claim that not a drop sperm from another people could have gotten into his genes? And I have said this a million times and I still don't see how they look so "different" from everyone else. Sure, there are some that look white and others who are dark, you have some who look even european, and why wouldn't they when Greeks and others conquered the area, but there are others and many more who resemble their muslim neighbors, jews and others. They are basically the same shit but just a group of bigoted christians who want to monkey the west in everything and show the world that they are so different. --------------------- |
