I see you made it and I like to welcome you first of all on the only forum where you can post freely without getting banned or deleted. Firstly, I agree with you on many points and there are areas where I also disagree. Not because I am narrow minded, because I am sure "minime" was referring to himself when he accused us of only reading 1 book. You say that you don't want quotes from the Quran and I don't know where you got that idea from but I forgot that you wouldn't be able to just keep it Assyrian. Religion, faith, belief, etc has nothing to do with being "Assyrian" as you stated yourself, but most of your "proof" was from religious sources. If this is the evidence you were referring to in your email that you sent me, I know all these sources and one can easily get them on any of those "Proud Assyrian" websites. It's the same old few referrences to try to prove to that you all are "Assyrians". You said it yourself that no one is pure nothing these days and even the ancients weren't pure themselves; well I am glad that you have sense and any normal person can figure that out. Furthermore, any educated Iraqi, whether it be Muslim, Christian or whatever, knows that the ancients are the ancastors of the modern day Iraqis. But there is another problem. You provided your "evidence" which was mostly from religious sources and based on myths for the most part. People knew and know about Assyrians, Babylonians, etc. Claiming to be something is not the issue but achieving another agenda is the key here. If I were to call you a nazi, would that make you a nazi? I don't think so, and, therefore, if some Greek in the past referred to some people living in Mesopotamia as "Assyrians" that really don't prove anything. Now, if you look at other authors, historians, and scholars, you will come to realize that the "evidence" you provided is really nothing more than the same junk that is used by these "Proud Assyrians" who knew nothing abbout Sargon, Gilgamesh, or whatever else. It's interesting that this "Assyrian pride" and this "nationalism" only came into existense around ww1 and the ACOE only added the "Assyrian" name to its church in 1976 after the assasination of your patriarch. Where was this pride, and nationalism say a 150 years ago? How come everything you people claim and know about the ancients originates from the works of modern discoveries by foreigners? You are willing to use these discoveries to glorify yourselves but at label the scholars, historians and authors who question, deny and even provide evidence that you people knew hardly anything about ancient Assyrians as "agents" or other names, why is that? There are many books outhere from historians, authors and men who traveled the region, spend years and years gathering evidence and research who testify as to how the Syriac speaking Christians were not calling themselves "Assyrians" but you people would rather listen to your own priests and clowns like Fred Aprim, and call us "narrow minded" at the same time. As for this "evidence" you provided, although I appreciate your effort, but it is nothing new or based on reality. It is the same old stuff that is on every Assyrian website. However, the truth of the matter is that these "Proud Assyrians" who are in reality nothing more than angry Christians are using this "Assyrian" label to achieve their agenda which has nothing to do with the ancients at all. They couldn't get anything by being "Syriac" "Nestorian" or "Christian" so they thought by using "Assyrian" they could get an "Assyria" which is really nothing more than a "Christiandia". So it's not us who are anti Assyrian or have an agenda but it is they and if you agree with them then you can include yourself in that list too. I have no problem with a person calling him/herself "Assyrian" or whatever else. I love my ancastors and my heritage but that don't mean I can go on and try to achieve dirty agendas based on that. These people think thar by being Christian that makes them Assyrian and only they can be direct descendants of the ancients. If they are really this naive to think that they will get somewhere by trying to play this "direct descendants" dog shit, then they are living in a dream world. Native Americans, African Americans, Aborigines, and many others have suffered far worse and have much more recent cases and they can't get anything based and you people think you can get something by claiming to be "indigenous"? They need to get real. No one is being anti Assyrian or working for the Mosat as they say but we are just speaking reality here. If we had an agenda or were narrow minded, you wouldn't be allowed to post on here but you would be banned and deleted like the "Proud Assyrian" forums do, yet they call themselves "Assyrians"? The ancients didn't run away from words nor cried and lied to others in order to get something, yet these people fear anything which proves them wrong. So, once again, I appreciate you coming on here and accepting my invitation. I also appreciate your effort of providing your "evidence" which you hold to "historical facts" but history shows that even a 150 years ago these "Syriac speaking Christians" who only became "Assyrians" after ww1 were unaware of their "proud" ancastry. What you provided as your evidence is what is on every Assyrian web site and no honest person holds that to be "evidence". If you want reality, you will have to read the various books written by real authors and historians and the be honest with yourself no matter how much it hurts. It hurted me but it's true. Being Christian doesen't make me a true Assyrian nor claiming to be makes me one. Yes we can be proud of the ancients and we can agree they are our ancastors, but hoping to achieve another agenda with that is absurd and will not work. Last but not least, I am not an Arab with an agenda nor am I anti Assyrian. I am just pro honesty and I am aware of the filthy agendas of these people, therefore, that may make me anti Assyrian but I am not. I have nothing invested in this since Islam and truth means everything to me. You, me, Pancho or whoever else can love the ancients, be proud of them but we can not sit here and try to use them in order to achieve Christian agendas. You can be Christian, Muslim, or whatever else and that doesw not make us descendants of the ancients. Anyone is free to call him'herself by whatever name but trying to pose as "Assyrians" only to be in reality "Christian" isn't going to fly, and demanding special treatment, independence or whatever else by claiming direct descent or being indegenous isn't going to fly. Anyways, Posh bi Shlama and thanks for your effort, God Bless. --------------------- |
