The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement is growing and the Israelis don't like it. They've even tried to undermine it with the usual "anti-Semite" accusations, which is nonsense, since a great number of activists are prominent Jews like Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis. As a lover of cinema, I was saddened and angry when I learned that the Cohen Brothers, who made "Blood Simple", "Miller's Crossing", "No Country For Old Men", and recently, "True Grit", accepted a million dollars from the Israeli government on Nakba Day. On the other hand, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd publicly and eloquently explained why he won't play at Tel Aviv, just as he refused to perform in South Africa during Apartheid. --------------------- |
