these things happen frequently in America, and they even make movies about them, good selling ones too. In Muslim countries such things are very rare. All you need to do is turn on the news to find out what some American did to his wife, neighbor or mailman. Muslims are identified by their religion for some reason where as none-Muslims are identified by other things. The other day I had a woman refer to some Somalis as "them Muslims down the street" and I asked her why they are called Muslims and not something else. I mean we don't say that Christian next door so why is a Muslim always a Muslim and not an Arab, Bosnian, Somali or Afghan?
