Excellent analysis, Jeffrey!! I also agree with your down to earth solution. I'm a child of an intermarriage between an Assyrian and a Persian. Aside from certain neurotic aspects of my personality, I have a certian understanding of both cultures which most of my "full-blooded" cousins lack. And as a result of knowing both worlds' likes and dislikes, grievances and fears, I'm more prone to peaceful solutions, as opposed to my family members who wish all Muslims a horrible, painful death. I honestly can't say that I've ever experienced any disrespect, let alone bigoted slurs, from the other side of my family. They have, to my knowledge, always said that they "accept Issa Massih as a child and prophet of God", and have rebuked me when I've spoken ill of Christianity. --------------------- |
