Pancho, it isn't only Christians who believe in the supernatural, some of my old hippie friends who criticize Christianity became Hare Krishna or appropriated what they liked from Hinduism and acted "enlightened". I wonder if you had come across these types in the 60s and 70s, especially in San Francisco, you know they ones who were Maoists pontificating about the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, until they realized that most workers are reactionaries, sexists and racists, so they went from being materialists to becoming mystics by seeking a guru. Then they realized that the guru was just a man, and like any man, had a sex drive and a need to be praised and paid. Now they see shrinks.
