If you have Netflix watch the film, Constantine's Sword, from the book by the same title by former Catholic priest, James Carroll. There's a part in which he interviews Ted Haggard, the Uber-Christian who as Saul Landau describes has a young sex hustler (a masseur) shoot crystal meth in his rectum before he wrecks him! It also dispalys how the US Air Force has become an Evangelical training camp of neo-Crusaders with Mel Gibson's The Passion as a mandatory date film.

As far as government social programs, I did a research fifteen years back for an African-American History course where I was trying to break the notion that most black families are on welfare, food stamps and other state or federal programs. I was not at all surprised that most Americans who get government aid are actually... white: mainly young caucasian mothers with an average of four or more kids, whom they cannot properly raise, but for each additional child they recieve an additonal check. And surprise! surprise! most of these white women live in the South, lean to the Right, pray to Jeesus and vote Republican.
(You probably see a good bunch of them in Atlanta.)
