I don't think it's just ignorance or bigotry, or even a lack of religious sophistication...I think the extreme criticism of Islam is a political move to distract us from the awful, murderous and illegal things we've done and are still doing in that part of the world....we don't need a better understanding of religions, we need to clearly see bigotry towards Islam is a dodge...it is meant to keep the American people believing that nothing they did, merits any reaction at all from Muslims..and that if there should be any attempt to fight back, it is simply because Islam drives Muslims to be "like that"....meaning there is no reason or rhyme when Muslims fight back EXCEPT their religious dictates...like telling a Christian woman that the only reason she fought her rapist was because of Jesus.
