...I have to put my foot down somewhere...I am no longer going to read anything about God....if I come across a ten volume set about Voodoo rituals and when it's best to slit the throat of a chicken to obtain good juju from Mugwhump, I'll likewise skip. ..this is a neurological disorder...you can do that to people if you get them young enough...they can go on to become great scientists (though the phrase "Great Catholic Thinker" is an moronic ox) and engineers and essayists and everything else you can imagine, but a part of their young mind was trampled upon long before their rational minds could protect them...the damage was done...it's just that a good soul, like Rodriguez and many another, will try, will sincerely and honestly try to make better sense of it as they grow older and develop their rational capacity...but it's too late...no matter how brilliant AFTER, they were defenseless BEFORE, before the mind could mature enough to protect them. You just have to walk away...from ALL of it. I've had it with gods...all I see and hear when someone mentions gods, even as a slight believer, is "I'm so sorry for what they did to you when you had no choice...but I DO have a choice and I'm going to do what you wish you could have done...I'm going to tell anyone talking about God to fuck off. Religion is interesting as an historical phenomena...like a plague or the Black Death...but in and of itself it has absolutely no charm nor anything compelling. I too am fascinated by how this scam was begun, how it progressed, what it cost us humans and how it's unraveling itself today...but to actually talk like there MIGHT be a god, still....is too much to bear with patience. --------------------- |
