I should add that the fans of the football club Beitar Jerusalem consist of Mizarhi Jews, who used to be known as "Arab Jews" that migrated to Israel from Arab countries. They are the most bigoted and racist which makes one think whether they are demonstrating their loyalty to their white brothers, the Ashkenazi, by demonizing and terrorizing Arab Christians and Muslims who look like their Mizrahi attackers. Israeli Jews who are on the Left and sympathetic to Palestinians and are in solidarity with the wider movement against Israeli policies are also not immune from the wrath of the Beitar fans... And justification of all this is religious: "God gave us the land"... and according to one settler, "the Palestinians should accept the fact that this land is ours and they are our slaves." A common joke among liberal Jews is that if Jews don't believe in God, then how can they claim that God gave them the land of Israel? --------------------- |
