The 1980s and 1990s saw the biggest waves of Christian refugees from Iraq and not the latest war too. One thing is certain and that is Christians of Iraq have been fleeing because of sanctions and not because of "persecution". Just recently the IRC(International rescue committee) brought about 600 new Iraqi families to Atlanta, Georgia. The organization has a habit of calling other Iraqis to help the new comers get around, help them out and get them employment. There are around 30 Christian families among them (Assyrians and Chaldeans). I was recently contacted by the committee and informed that there were some people who were Assyrian and needed help. So I got into contact with 2 young men from Mosul and I been trying to help them find jobs. Unfortunately, the father of the 2 men has kicked them out of the house because of their drinking, gambling and smoking. Since they been hanging around me, I had the opportunity to ask them about their life in Iraq because I hear all kinds of horrific stories from Fred Aprim's articles. While their stories aren't different from the other Iraqis, "persecution" has not been mentioned as the cause for their refuge. In fact, they curse at Bush and regret coming to this difficult country. some of the families are already fed up with life in America that they are saying life was better and more easy in Iraq even now.

I would assume a "persecuted" people would have some signs that would indicate they were truly living in fear, suffering because of their Assyrian pride and religion but instead they are the opposite. They know how to have fun and are already asking me to take them to night clubs and help them meet girls, and I told them I couldn't help with that but there are other Iraqis who can do that. So far from these Christians here in Atlanta, I have not seen or heard any of the stories mentioned by our nationalists. Even here in Atlanta, these Christians have no issues with the Shiites, Kurds and other Iraqis and there is a big and diverse Iraqi community here, including Christians. Furthermore, my uncle lives in Kirkuk and my mom is always concerned over him and he says he will die in Kirkuk and never leave because he loves his home and city. He also has not reported any of the stories that are popular on the "Assyrian forums". My friends do not have any of the stories mentioned by Aprim, and when I went to Chicago last in early 2007, I saw everything from Assyrian drug dealers to addicts and even people screwing one anothers wives and daughters, but "religious persecution" didn't seem to be a factor to these people.

I may not be the brightest guy in the world nor am I a professor but I know enough to notice a victim of some kind of atrocity. Is like having a rape victim sit and laugh five minutes after the rape, and that just wouldn't happen like that and that is why I do heavy research to try to verify these stories that Aprim and rest manage to come up with. Of course they need such stories to stay in business and they truly wish such things were happening for real to the Christians in Iraq. That is why they get "insulted" when their own say otherwise. it's almost like they want to force people to say "yes I am persecuted and my 6 daughters were raped in front me by Kurds". I've seen people get their mothers insulted and even banned just because they were telling the truth. Like on one of the forums, there use to be a good and fair Christian guy and he used to speak out the way we do hear and just point out the bogus claims, and he was ganged up by the entire forum just for that. After the church bombings in 2004, hell broke lose and one couldn't even bring up the word "Arab" or "Muslim" up anymore without being banned.

It's just fascinating how determined these people are to create trouble problems for their own back home. The United States is good at causing trouble and dividing people too. If anyone is aware, when Malcolm x was preaching his old doctrines for many years, he was loved by the media and never silenced. When he became a Orthodox Muslim and said "my friends are black, white, brown, yellow and red" he was killed within three months of that. It's like they love division and trouble and they hate for people to get along. The case of our nationalist is even worse and they have become heroes on the internet. I have asked this before and will ask again, what would Fred Aprim be doing if he were born in New Delhi India, into a Hindu family and was raised a Hindu? i would guess he would have a red dot on his forehead, he would eat a lot of samboosas and be worshiping Krishna, Brahama, Nirav and Naresh. Knowing him, he probably wouldn't care for that but he would never ever think of Christianity or "Assyrianism". This goes for all of them with their bigot mentalities.

The craziest and funniest is when they say "go research your history" and they don't mean actual history but rather the opinions and prejudices of their parents and priests. While Aprim's family were I guess hiding in caves trying to preserve their Aramaic language and were in fear of Arabs or Kurds, my ancestors were not hiding nor were they in fear. all four of my uncles went to University, had good careers in Iraq and even retired from their careers and life wasn't to bad under "persecution" since Fred Aprim was able to get a bachelors degree from Mosul university, but I am guessing he had to wear an hijab and pose as an Arab woman in order to survive. Now he is "free" to tell us his story and the story of his "persecuted Christians" in "Assyria".
