like many middle class "rebels" Hitchens played at revolution and justice and all that stuff....what he really wanted was to be on the side of power and he saw soon enough that middle-class radicalism wasn't going to get power....so he switched sides....I don't know of any other instance where a man or woman has so effectively taken a sledgehammer to his or her own best part.....okay, rebels may not win very often, but at least they challenge...and that can only be good....else we'd still be living in trees, all of us conservatives. --------------------- |
