Then you got the nationalists who will read aprim"s "book" and say there was a priest or some other peasant who went by the name "yuhana aturaya" or ninwaya etc. This is something explained very beautifully by dr joseph and this has nothing to do with ethnic identity but being from nineveh or geographical assyria. The same with tatian and there is another(paul of samosota) whom they also call "the assyrian" and neither one of these individuals was assyrian, at least not ethnically related to the ancients. These were italians born in iraq.
