yes, tax the buggers by all means....if you want to do "good" you shouldn't need a financial incentive..but then their whole schtick is based on reward and punishment...the idea that a church simply couldn't "do good" if it paid taxes shows just what their good is based on... I am eagerly awaiting the day when a Gay couple insists that they too have a constitutional right to a church wedding IF that church gets a tax write-off, which is a Federal grant which means we all, Gays and everyone else, pay their taxes for them...and the churches know this too, that's their main reason for fighting it. If they want to discriminate then let them do it without a tax benefit from the rest of us...same as the Boy Scouts when they refused membership to gay kids: in San Francisco they lost all docking privileges for their yacht..which are covered by all us citizens..and the list went on...discriminate, if you want to, but expect no subsidies for it from the rest of us. --------------------- |
