"In 1994, it was reported that the leader of the Zapatista rebels in Mexico, Subcommander Marcos, said that "he expects the United States to support the Zapatistas once US intelligence agencies are convinced the movement is not influenced by Cubans or Russians." "Finally," Marcos said, "they are going to conclude that this is a Mexican problem, with just and true causes."10 Yet for many years, the United States provided the Mexican military with all the training and tools needed to crush the Zapatistas." - Beside the Mexican military, the US trained and funded a paramilitary group in Georgia's infamous School of the Americas, the college for Latin America's assassins, torturers and death squads. When Sub-comandante Marcos disarmed the Zapatistas and declared them as only a political group, the paramilitary death squad looked for other means to make money. The joined the Sinaloa and other narco families and thus the murder rate in Mexico exploded and bodies began appearing decapitated, tortured, and blown to pieces by weaponry used in the battlegrounds of Afghanistan and the streets of Iraq. Assassinations of police chiefs and judges increased, and the sophistication with which they were (and are) carried out have the signature of 'Made in the USA'. This new narco death squad is known as Los Zetas, and not only were they trained in America, but all of their weapons come from the North as part of a drugs for guns barter. --------------------- |
