-- I don't know much about the Mufti other than what Avnery here writes, but I would speculate there were some Arabs, Iranians, Irish, and Indians who in the 1930's may have wrongly looked to the Germans to free them from the yolk of British imperialism. Indonesians played the Japanese off the Dutch, and even in the U.S. a segment of blacks who followed Elijah Muhammad saw in the Japanese as the cure for the disease of white supremacy to the point where the Nation of Islam introduced the idea of the "Asiatic Black man" to the community. The most authoritative Holocaust scholar is Raul Hilberg, and I don't think in his extensive research for his three-volume work, "The Destruciton of the European Jews", he blamed Muslims for what Christian Europeans did to other Europeans simply because they were Jewish.
