The NPR report I listened to last night, was actually making fun of Masoud Barazani. The man who gave the report was speaking out against Barazanis methods, but was giving him credit for how he brought world attention to the Kurdish struggle. He was reporting on the pre-Saddam era of Masoud Barazani. It was very interesting in so far as he went into his childhood, his adolescense, his teenage-years, and then his youth, where he learned to manipulate people and eventually gained their sympathy, so that they took him on as their little desciple, teaching him what he needed to know, and supplying him with everything his people needed to survive in a land that was not their own.

Pretending to be needy, and actually acting like a beggar, the way we do, is very different than forging alliances with some of the greatest minds this world offers and consequently winning the universal hearts and minds.

Of course this country helped the Kurds to win their independence in exchange for Saddam and access to Iraqi wealth. But I am talking pre-Saddam, when the Kurdish struggle was taken to China and Russia, who were influential in supplying everything the Kurds needed to gain our lands inch by inch, and to prepare the way for a future Kurdistan.

Let us keep in mind that the U.S. would have never helped the Kurds, if they were NOT already there in our homeland.
