I've been avoiding the last scene of the Iraqi boys running after a 16oz. bottle of water held playfully by a sadistic soldier in an armored truck since I had first seen it in another film. I've also deleted from memory scenes of Iraqi museums being looted, as this film narrator tells us, by American soldiers and "art dealers" with connections - and the leftovers burned and destroyed delibirately with intent to annihilate one's culture and rich history from the minds of future generations, so as to possibley teach the young that modern Iraqi history begins with the "Liberation of Iraq by the coalition" -- what bullshit! I do agree that greed is the driving force coupled with fear of a blowback from crimes dating back to the founding of this country. Michael Moore displays this too well in his "Bowling for Columbine" in an animated sequence that portrays guns and White violence as a direct manifestation of fear of retribution by the African slaves they had so kindly displaced, exploited, tortured, killed and robbed them of their language, religion, history, and culture. The best revenge is a White kid who dresses, talks and acts like the Black rappers he sees on TV surrounded by half-naked young, dancing white flesh. --------------------- |
