Well, you're taking it to the next level, beyond Mayer's old-school, Marxist analysis. But I agree, it's so utterly true. In relation to what Mayer describes, though, as "asymmetric" warfare from afar, where the chance of dying is at an absolute zero, fighting wars becomes more and more equavalent with mere employment, than the unknown adverturism of going to "Indian country" and perhaps never returning in one piece. Also, the remote trigger release of a hellfire missile somehow becomes more "rational" and "surgical" than the face to face battle determined by the trigger of an M-16. --------------------- |
