When I was 17, I went to the record store (we used to listen to vinyl back then) and picked up Willie Dixon's "I Am the Blues", my first Blues album. In no time did I realize that most of Dixon's original songs like "I Can't Quit You", "How Many More Times", "Little Red Rooster", or "You Shook Me", were stolen and sung by the white rock groups to which I grew up listening like the Stones and Led Zeppelin. These guys have become "rock stars", have gone multi-platinum and become multi-millionaires from stealing the Black man's music -- the one thing that made him bear the pain and suffering under the god, gun and law of the white man. No wonder why Chuck Berry punched the Stones' guitarist, Ronny Woods, when Woods ran up to thank Berry and shake his hand. --------------------- |
