that's the same story I was fed...that when Nineveh fell the survivors all ran to the mountains where they hid for centuries safely away from it all....which is how they tell themselves they know they are Assyrians....because they ran and hid?????

And further I heard that every so often one of them would go down in disguise, so no one knew Assyrians were still shaking in their boots high up with the goats and other animals....and one day one such disguised hero heard of Jesus and his message and went back to tell the rest of the shakey quakey nation that a Jew had found some courage for them and they should come down and get martyred....all of a sudden it was okay to die for yahwe....they were though living for Ashur.

...fairy tales, pure and simple.
