Hi Rashad,

When the the MidEast was under British and French mandate, it was modern, had high literacy rate, boosting economies, freedom of speech, and so on.
All this happened during the western rule, not under before, under the Ottomans.

let's take freedom of speech for example. During the monarchy, the Egyptians were able to speak out openly, and without fear, against the King and the British. They even elected prominent opposition figure who attained high positions in the Egyptian government. After Adbel Nasser rose to power, he and his secret service imprisoned, tortured, and executed anyone who was being suspected of opposing him.

All the governments that the west installed were overthrown and replaced by oppressive authoritarian regimes. Economic progress were stunted, literacy rates dropped, and religious fundamentalism increased.

Rashad wrote:
>The prophet Muhammad said in numerous hadiths "do not oppress and do not become oppressed". Islam is not oppression and no Muslim who knows his religion well should shiver when he or she hears the word "sharia". What these modern fools do is not sharia but their own corrupt version of the law. Sharia is what Muslims in Spain lived by, or the Abbasid dynasty and the Ottoman empire during it's age of glory. What Saudi Arabia does today or Sudan or Somalia and wherever else is not sharia nor Islam but corruption.

= So we look up in history for an Islamic country that was in its "age of glory", and we say THAT is true Sharia.

All civilization and religions had their own age of glory at one time in history. There not reason, anyway, to attribute that glory to religion.

So if we just apply the proposed Sharia on a country today, Would it work miracles? Would it be compatible with the modern world?

What is genuine Sharia? Isn't the Quran explicit enough?

>Anyways, I didn't mean to write so much or get carried away but it happens, lol.

It's Ok, you're welcome :)
