Not true. History tells us that one couldn't even find a peasant in Muslim Spain who couldn't read or write.

Yeah well it brought progress and that is what sharia is. Sharia is not suppose to oppress or persecute but rather bring stabilty, justice and security for all citizens.

The Arabs and Turks had their glory through religion. So it's hard not to attributed it. It was only after Islam that the desert Arans became something and great while just before it they were burying their newborn daughters alive.

Yeah actually it would. Even as a godless person, I must admit it would work. Sharia would help the poor and protect all citizens but of course there are always corrupt people such as Taliban etc. It worked for the Ottoman Empire , Mughal dynasty, Arabs etc.

Sharia simply means "road" and it is law derived from Quran and the traditions of the prophet. It touches on all aspects of life and it is a system that if applied, there would be a different kind of Muslim world today.
