I heard Aprim say they are Assyrian first and "foremost" before anything else, and the rest of them say it as well. They can't just be Iraqi Christians or Christians of whatever country they live in for the reasons you already mentioned. So they hide behind an ethnic identity which was created for them by the British missionaries and agents of the government. But once you take a quick look at them, it turns out to be Christian first and that only. They are Christian first and foremost and that's all they are. Christians of Iraq. Assyrian is no different from Chaldean, and both are just denominations within the Syriac community. --------------------- |
