...the word "nation" could not have applied to Arabs at that time since there was absolutely no national feeling...no sense of an Arab "nation" as such. In fact the hardest thing to do was to get the various Arab tribes to think of themselves as one people...this is where you constantly mistake moderm notions of "nation" with ancient and archaic ones...it could just easily mean a nation of Islam, than a nation of Arabs...Islam was for all people, not just Arabs.
