Dear Brother AssyrianMuslim:

It is important to know the real fact, that the TERM ' SURYOYE ' was actually given to all the Christians inhabitants of the Fertile Crescent , i.e., Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.

After 5-6 Century A.D. when the Christian religion involved in organizing themselves, they were actually DISORGANIZING themselves to be victims of several dogmas that engaged fighting each other for supremacy and control.
As s result of that , the Christians of the Middle East were divided more than ever to at least three categories:
a) Those who were allegiance to ROME , the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.
B) those who were allegiance to Constantinople's/ Byzantium or mostly known ORTHODOX.
C) And those who were independent and are those who are called NESTORIANS/ the Church of the EAST and the Jacobite Orthodox - these two were very close to each other - and they split to form the above Churches.

And going back to the SURYOYE who are calling themselves Oromoye, but keep in mind that there is the most activist of these ' SURYOYE ' that they prefer to be called ASSYRIANS and these people being proud Assyrians is not because they were influenced by the NESTORIANS, but they felt that because there are a lot historical facts that they are ASSYRIANS - YOU READ CHRISTIAN OF IRAQ - you will find every evidence that they are ASSYRIANS , but because most of them hate US as Nestorians , so they don't like to associate themselves with us for that reason.

The bottom line, as I said in my writings that NATIONALISM almost disappeared in the Middle East to be replaced by the RELIGION and DENOMINATION names , and the Church of the East actually rejects the NESTORIAN name , those who are opponents of the Church of the East called us NESTORIANS as the Church of the East called them , ' JACOBITE ' a name hate to be called.

A final note, the majority of SURYOYE ARAMEANS are today members of the Greek Orthodox Church and Roman Catholic church( an uniat of the Greek Orthodox ) and the majority of them were Arabic Speaking as early as 5-6 century A.D. and their Patriarch proudly calling himself Patriarch of the Arabs, and the Jacobite Orthodox are mostly inhabitants of norther Mesopotamia and are speakers of our language up to 200 years ago when the Arabic was replacing our language , I will say that their members in SYRIA, LEBANON and PALESTINE are recent immigrants from North of Mesopotamia EXCEPT few villages around the city of HOMS which be most likely Arameans .

In conclusion, according to IBN KHALDUN of thirteen century the Christians are known as follow:

" ... These sects (Christians ) crystallized into three groups, which constitute the Christian sects. Others have no significance . These are the MELCHITES/ Greek Orthodox, Jacobitees/ Suryoye Orthodox and the Nestorians/ the Church of the East... "

It is very important to note that in the last 700 years emerged the Church of ASSYRIA, after the demise of the Church of the East in Mesopotamia by the process of Arabization and Islamization where Christianity never have a trace in IRAQ south of Baghdad period.

The Church of the East is a universal Church name, but when the Church of the East was confined only in the Middle East except some in INDIA , our Patrirch took the initiative to be called the Assyrian Church of the East, a step that I SUPPORT , and especially after these ROTTEN and CORRUPT political organizations where most of them were Q.....d satellites to DISTORT our ASSYRIAN name by their invention, so our name will survive at least through our church , VIVA ASSYRIA.
