The Jewish bankers and landowners were the first to join the fascists in Italy to protect their interests from the rising communist tide. Was it not for Hitler and the Nazi party's virulent anti-Semitism, there would have been quite a great number of Jews in the Nazi party. This is not to take anything away from the brave communist, socialist and anarchist Jews who were fighting anti-Semitism and capitalist imperialism in Europe. Today in Israel, the communists face angry mobs of right wing hatred, daily. To be labeled "leftist" is synonymous with "traitor" or "self-hating Jew". They won't even allow Jews like Chomsky or Finkelstein to enter Israel when they've attempted to do so on their way to the occupied territories. There's not much of a difference between the supremacist view of Zionism, or the Haredim who believe they're god's chosen, than the Nazi's who glorify themselves in mythic porportions of Arya. The Nazis also purported to be victims of history due to the blow they were dealt in Versailles. (Of course, that's not comparable to what Jews suffered under Christians in Europe for hundreds of years.) --------------------- |
