...EVERYONE called us Suryani/Suraye etc.....including ourselves. We NEVER called ourselves Aturaye/Ashuraye/Assyrians.....we all know that...that's the reason there's so much trouble taken with trying to explain that away...that's why this business about a "lost A" is so important...it's a trick, a clever trick, but a trick nonetheless.

...there were two, distinct words for Assyrians and Arameans/Syrians...and BOTH started with an "A"...except in that one Luwian language....everyone else knew two different words for two DIFFERENT people.

...Dr Joseph touches on part of the confusion, or trikery, when he points out that in Armenian the word for Aramean is Asori....which sounds an awful like Ashuri or assyrian...but it ISN'T. This is their word for Aramean which covers also Syrian/Suraye. The Armenian word for Assyrian is Asoristansi.....whenever we are referred to as "Asori" our idiots right away think we are being called ASSYRIANS...we are not. We are being called Arameans/Syrians.

...people, ignorant ones, will use this "confusion" to their benefit...they will deny this is so...they will claim this is just Dr Joseph being "stupid and hating". But, in his book Joseph has a footnote explaining that he received a letter from a professor of Armenian who retired, Emeritus, from UCLA, confirming his reading of the proper word for Assyrian...which is NOT Asori but Asoristansi. You'll notice that BOTH of them begin with "A"....there was no "lost A" in Armenian...ahem.
